Noise-Cancelling

Ford vehicles are packed with advanced drive-assist technologies designed to make every journey smoother, safer and more comfortable. But these innovations rarely get attention beyond the car world.

So instead of explaining the technology through another instructional demo, Ford took it out of the vehicle and used it to solve a real-life problem.

Every New Year’s Eve, millions of dogs suffer from the overwhelming noise of fireworks. With hearing far more sensitive than humans’, even staying indoors often isn’t enough to keep them calm.

To help, Ford created the Noise-Cancelling Kennel: a prototype dog house designed to protect pets from terrifying loud sounds. Using the same Active Noise Control technology found in the Ford Edge SUV, the kennel detects the sound of fireworks and emits opposing frequencies to reduce the noise inside.

A car technology built for a quieter ride became a way to give dogs a quieter night.
